The Modern Firepower Pinball Project - Ablaze 9-LED #89 Flasher Lamps

In the previous update I showed that the Ablaze 9-LED flasher lamps, which run on 12 volts, would not light up at all on 5 volts.  I dug out my 12 volt power source and tried again, this time to spectacular results.

With 12 volts now running through its veins, the 9-LED #89 bulb shone brightly.  On the left is the 4-LED #44/#47 bulb.

With the camera underexposed, you can easily make out the 9 LED elements on the much larger #89 size bulb.

With the camera normally exposed the filling power of the #89 bulb is obvious, easily 4 times greater than the 4-LED bulb.

From the players perspective both bulbs provide good illumination, but the #89 on the left really provides visual impact.

I proceeded to hook up all three 9-LED #89 bulbs.

27 LEDs of retina burning power - the camera was 5 stops underexposed to capture this image.

Still underexposed, this image shows that the three #89 flasher bulbs fill up the crescent shaped playfield insert nicely.

From the players perspective, the 'POWER' insert has earned its name.

To add some FIRE to the POWER, I hooked up the three red colored #89 flasher bulbs on the other insert.

FIREPOWER LIVES!
